There are at present six categories of membership in NICArb. The Membership categories are:

Student Membership and Education Programme

NICArb Student Membership and Education Programme is open to university undergraduates within, and outside Nigeria interested in having an understanding of Arbitration and ADR as non-conventional means of resolving disputes and future career paths. This programme seeks to expose young persons to Arbitration and ADR, through the provision of useful online resources, materials information and mentorship.

At the end of the undergraduate programme, student members interested in exploring Arbitration and ADR as an additional career will undertake a mandatory certification training to become Associates members of NICArb.

Associates – ACArb

Professionals irrespective of their field of study, who intend to practice arbitration can become Associates of NICArb through participation in the following programmes:

Fast Track Associate Training Programme (FTAP)

The Fast Track Associate Training Programme is a five-day intensive practical training course on arbitration and other forms of ADRs.

Who can apply?

Busy executives and top government officials who intend to be part of the Arbitration and ADR world, but are not able to take part in the conventional three days training programme and examination can apply for this programme. At the end of the programme, an assessment of the participants is done by Peer review.

Conventional Associate Training Programme (CATP)

The Conventional Associate Training Programme – (CATP) is a two-day training that offers guidelines on the emerging trends in Arbitral proceedings and other modern dispute resolution mechanisms. It uses a variety of teaching formats, emphasizes participant participation in the learning process, and provides opportunities for participants to understand the practice of arbitration and other forms of ADR. At the end of the programme, participants are assessed through a written examination.

Membership – MCArb

This membership category (MTP) is open to Associate members of NICArb and Associates of other recognized Arbitration bodies who have been members of the Institute for a minimum of 5 years.

Who can apply?

For applicants who are members of NICArb to qualify for this category, they will be required to show proof of up-to-date payment of their annual subscription.

Other professionals with a minimum of 15 years of work experience and knowledge of Arbitration.

Prospective applicants under this cadre must provide proof of participation in at least one Arbitration proceeding or have written two articles in Arbitration and or ADR proceedings.

Become a Member

Fellowship – FCArb

This membership category (MTP) is open to Associate members of NICArb and Associates of other recognized Arbitration bodies who have been members of the Institute for a minimum of 5 years.

Who can apply?

For applicants who are members of NICArb to qualify for this category, they will be required to show proof of up-to-date payment of their annual subscription.

Other professionals with a minimum of 15 years of work experience and knowledge of Arbitration.

Prospective applicants under this cadre must provide proof of participation in at least one Arbitration proceeding or have written two articles in Arbitration and or ADR proceedings.
